In 1933 he joined Unit One and displayed a set of semi-abstract paintings at their one, extended, exhibition. Throughout the 1930s Armstrong continued to work as a designer as he also continued to develop his art. He produced a number of remarkable posters for Shell and also produced four posters for the General Post Office.\u003csup\u003e \u003c\/sup\u003eArmstrong designed a number of book covers for the Hogarth Press, including for William Plomer's \u003ci\u003eSado\u003c\/i\u003e published in 1931. He worked on the first production of the ballet \u003ci\u003eFaçade\u003c\/i\u003e\u003csup class=\"reference\" id=\"cite_ref-BuckmanVol1_9-0\"\u003e]\u003c\/sup\u003e and on a number of Alexander Korda's film productions, designing costumes for \u003ci\u003eThe Private Life of Henry VIII\u003c\/i\u003e, \u003ci\u003eRembrandt\u003c\/i\u003e and \u003ci\u003eI Claudius.\u003c\/i\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003ci\u003e\u003cb id=\"yui_3_10_0_1_1601759744361_354\"\u003eNewlands Corner\u003c\/b\u003e is a 103-hectare (250-acre) nature reserve east of Guildford in Surrey.
